Waukee Elementary Pennies for Patients
Next week will be our annual Pennies for Patients drive to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Our school’s honored hero this year is a 6 year old boy named Kohen. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia in 2008 and is currently in remission. He likes to play with cars and trucks, practice the alphabet, and play number games with his family. His favorite movie is Cars 2 and his favorite foods are McDonalds, french fries and ice cream. He would like to drive a big truck one day when he grows up. If you would like to make cards or write letters as part of writing to Kohen next week, please have them to me by the end of the day on Friday, April 26.
April 22 through April 26 Waukee Elementary will be collecting spare change for the Pennies for Patients program for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Leukemia is the number one cause of cancer-related in children. All the money our school raises will go to help fund research and support medical costs for families here in Iowa. Every classroom will be collecting money and the classroom with the most money at the end of the week will earn a pizza party. Any donation would be appreciated. Last year Waukee Elementary raised more than $3,000. Thank you for your support.
