Beyond the Bell Update
Beyond the Bell and Wee Warriors are off to a great start this year! Beyond the Bell, the before and after school program, has sites open at Maple Grove, Shuler, Walnut Hills and Woodland Hills elementary schools. We are currently serving a combined 650 children.
Within the last few months the Department of Education has changed its licensing standards for before and after school programs. These standards were not conducive to our program so we have opted to have our programs licensed by the Department of Human Services. The Department of Human Services currently licenses Wee Warriors, so we are excited to have the Beyond the Bell programs licensed by them as well. We are currently in the process of having our licensing consultant come out to visit our programs and give us our license of operation. These visits will occur in November and December. This is an exciting time for us as we continue to raise the quality and standards of our program by meeting these regulations.
Winter break is quickly approaching and we are already planning ahead for some exciting field trips and activities. Beyond the Bell will be open on Monday, December 22, Tuesday, December 23 and Friday, December 26. We will also be open on Monday, December 29, Tuesday, December 30 and Friday, January 2. Enrollment for these and other no school days is open to any child in the school district. The cost is $30 per no school day. Anyone who wishes to enroll for these days or wants to find contact information, snack calendars or other information on the program are encouraged to visit our website. Just go to the district website at www.waukeeschools.org and click on the “Need a helping hand” link. Enrollment for these days ends on Wednesday, December 10, 2014.
Beyond the Bell programs are offered for students currently enrolled at on of the following four school sites: Maple Grove Elementary, Shuler Elementary, Walnut Hills Elementary, and Woodland Hills Elementary.
