Board Approves 2016-17 Calendar
At the February 8 Waukee Board of Education meeting two public hearings were held to determine calendar hours vs days and the 2016-17 school calendar. The Board approved the 2016-17 school calendar as presented based on 1080 hours of instructional time.
Effective July 1, 2014, all public and accredited nonpublic school districts are required to choose between 180 days or 1080 hours of instruction per year. School boards are authorized to make this decision, but must hold a public hearing prior to adoption of the district calendar.
Andy Pals, calendar committee chair, presented the 2016-17 Waukee Education Association (WEA) school calendar recommendations to the Board on January 11.
Waukee Community School District will start school on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 for the 2016-17 school year.
