WE Totem Tales 2/5
Our Valentine Parties will be held Wednesday, February 14th, from 2:30-3:15p.m. at Waukee Elementary.
If you are planning to attend the Valentine Parties, we ask that you RSVP to the google form by Sunday 2/11. As a reminder, our district uses a visitor system that requires all visitors to scan their photo ID and have a name badge to enter the school. It is required, and with many people attending that day, there could be a long wait. You will not be allowed to enter until you have been scanned into the system. If you forget a photo ID you will not be allowed to enter. Below are some ways to avoid the delay.
Ways to speed up checking in on 2/14:
*If you have already been in the building as a visitor since the beginning of this school year, you should already be in the system. Just RSVP by Sunday 2/11 and we can have your badge waiting for you.
*Stop by Waukee Elementary between 8-4 prior to Wednesday and we can enter you in the system so we can have your badge printed for the party on Wednesday. Tell us you plan to attend the Valentine Party so we know to have it waiting for you.
*Come early on Wednesday and make sure you have your photo ID with you.
A few other important notes:
Parents who are volunteering at the Valentine Parties will be asked to get their badge and wait in the entryway until 2:15 p.m. Volunteers will be allowed to go to classrooms for party set-up at 2:15 p.m. We discourage younger siblings from attending classroom parties with parents.
When looking forward to classroom parties and the exchange of valentine cards, there must be no individual candy/edible treats attached to them. These bulk candies are not individually labeled and they do not meet the requirements of the district allergy policy. Page 20 of the district handbook states: “No food or candy items will be allowed for distribution by students attached to Valentine cards at the Valentine party. Students are welcome to bring cards and non-food items (such as pencils, stickers, etc.) if they choose.”
The students will still have access to plenty of food and treats during the actual Valentine Party itself. However, it is simply not possible for us to examine the ingredient labels of the candy that would be attached to each Valentine’s Card. Please know that student safety is our utmost priority.
Thank you for your cooperation!

Waukee Foundation Annual Dinner & Auction: A Night in Hollywood!
You’re invited to join us on February 24, 2018 for the Waukee Foundation’s Annual Dinner & Auction at Noah’s Event Center in West Des Moines. This energetic, informal night out is the perfect way to show your support for our growing school district. A wide variety of food and beverages will be served as you make your way through our display of silent auction items. Towards the end of the evening, an exciting live auction will be sure to create some fun memories!
Since 1996 the Foundation has contributed more than $500,000 to the WCSD by providing grants for innovative technology for classrooms, professional development and continuing education for our teachers and faculty, as well as donating 30% of it’s net proceeds to the Scholarship Fund to graduating seniors which has granted more than $300,000 in scholarships in the last five years alone. The Foundation’s primary fundraiser is the Annual Dinner & Auction. This year we need YOUR help to continue to support our rapidly growing school district!
