Only two weeks until Bolt for Brookview!! So far students have raised $26,659.50!!! Great job! Keep fundraising! The collection period ends April 20. On April 27, there are two ways to be a part of the fun. Volunteers are needed! There are many shifts throughout the day. Volunteers are especially needed for clean up at 2:45 pm. Last Day of School
The last day of school for students is Thursday, May 31.
Drop Off Time for Students
Students cannot be dropped off before 8:35AM. There is not supervision before 8:35AM. Students are not allowed to wait inside the building.
6th Grade Parent Orientation
6th grade parent orientation is Thursday, April 26th. This is for parents only. The presentation will take place in the South MS large gymnasium during the times below. Following the presentation, parents will be able to take a self-guided tour of the building and visit our 6th Purple pod. Principals will be available for questions and we will have a variety of our community partners present for parents to visit with before or after your session. The presentation will be online following the event for any families who have conflicts.
We prefer you come during your scheduled time, but if it doesn’t work for your schedule, you may attend at that alternate time listed.

Has Your Address Changed? Planning to Move?
Two things are needed.
- Call the Brookview office at 987-5166 and let us know your new address.
- Change your address at the Waukee School District office (560 SE University Ave., Waukee, IA 50263).
*To change your address, you’ll need proof of residency. A copy of your rental agreement or purchase agreement is acceptable.
Introduction to Kindergarten Night
When: Thursday, May 10: 6:00-7:00 pm
Who should attend: Incoming kindergarten students and their parents.

Waukee Community Closet
The Waukee Community Closet assists students and families in need within our school district by providing free high quality clothing (pre-worn as well as new). If you have children’s clothing to donate, please check out Facebook.com/waukeecommunitycloset for the hours of donation.

Waukee Community School District (WCSD) uses SchoolMessenger for emergency notifications. Notifications include inclement weather, late starts or other emergency situations that may arise during or after school hours. SchoolMessenger works with PowerSchool, so there is no list for parents to sign up for, however, in order for parents to receive a text message, parents must complete the “opt-in” process.
Subscribe by texting: “Y”, “Yes,” or “Subscribe” to 67587. The cell phone numbers used must be in PowerSchool to receive a notification. Unsubscribe at any time by texting the key words: “Quit”, “Remove” or “Unsubscribe” to 67587.
When to Stay Home
Fever – Student must be fever free (without medication) for 24 hours (less than 100 degrees).
Vomit – Student must have not vomited for 24 hours before returning to school.
Diarrhea – Student must be free from diarrhea for 24 hours.
Pink Eye – Student can return to school after 1st dose of medication or as directed by your physician.
Lice – Student is not sent home the day of discovery. Allowed to return after initial treatment.
Students are not allowed to stay indoors for recess or not participate in P.E. without a medical excuse (page10 of WSC elementary handbook).

Lost and Found
Brookview’s Lost and Found is located outside the music room. Please label all jackets, coats, sweatshirts, hats, gloves, water bottles and lunch boxes. Please check the Lost and Found area often.
Classroom parties and birthday treats: No homemade treats or food items are permitted. All treats must be commercially prepared and packaged for distribution with the intact ingredient label. Krispy Kreme donuts are not an allergy safe option. Please refer to the Waukee Parent Handbook for more information on the Waukee Allergy Policy. The Waukee Nutrition Department has peanut free snacks for purchase. Please visit www.waukeeschools.org for more information.

PTO Volunteer Positions
PTO is still in need of a Yearbook co-chair for next school year. Additionally, we are looking for a Teacher Appreciation chair and a Conference Meal chair for 2019- 2020. To make every reasonable effort to provide a safe learning environment for our students, all volunteers must complete an online volunteer form. The form is found here online volunteer form. It takes about 5 minutes to complete and must be completed before you can volunteer in any of Waukee CSD’s buildings.
Clipping Box Tops is an easy way to earn cash for Brookview. Each Box Top is worth 10¢! Look for the pink Box Top on hundreds of products. Just clip and send to school. You can send them to school in any increments. Groups of 50, can be grouped together and placed in a baggie.
